lyrics
Deployed to real life
No one can save me but you
I lie through my smile
Another day hiding the truth
Feelings are gone
I’m numb and I’m barely in tune
Sights unaligned
Shooting wide missing the cues
Catch me, I’m falling
Never been so high
Boots on the ground
Marching in unbidden shoes
(It’s calling)
A face in the crowd
Purple Heart, rhythm subdued
(It’s calling)
Yesterday’s gone
I can’t set my mind to undo
(It’s calling)
Grief weaponised
Child eyes tortured and bruised
(We all fall down)
Catch me, I am falling
(We grow, we pray, we fight, we serve)
Never been so high
(We grow, we pray, we fight, we serve))
I’m lost and I’m sorry
(We grow, we pray, we fight, we serve)
A war fought inside
I’m going home
Salvage what is left of me
Normalise my hand
I’m out of sync
The hardest part is coming home to land
Shock and awe disintegrates
Shepherds hide your lambs
I lie awake
While family lies bleeding the sand
Reintegrate my head
Reintegrate my heart
Reintegrate my head
Reintegrate my heart
Water rushes over me
Time shows its teeth and barks
All the while
I’m listening for fireworks to start
Coldness takes my breath away
Sleep becomes a shark
I lie in state
A shadow waiting patient in the dark
Reintegrate my head
Reintegrate my heart
Reintegrate my head
Reintegrate my heart
Reintegrate my head
Reintegrate my heart
Oh they’ll never understand
Reintegrate my head
Reintegrate my…
Drowning in a lake
I tell myself I’m more than enough
But you better hold on before I break
What is enough
Is it standing your ground when all of your world feels a mistake
How will all this end
Will I be a tale in the night
To give your children a fright
And never wake
Or will I be a name on a stone
To just reflect and move on
Are these the final orders I must take
Homesick for life
Homesick
I don’t want to go on,
Walking and wounded
Give me a chance
Re-take the ground I’m holding
Homesick for life
Homesick for life
Give me a chance
Re-take the ground I’m holding now
Homesick for life
I don’t want to go on,
Walking and wounded
Give me a chance
Re-take the ground I’m losing
Soothfully a phenomenal prog rock album—an instant classic. What motivates me to say so, is the music’s incredible expressiveness & its wonderfully cinematic song structures. Jargon is a very good fit with this band. It is quite evident that the band’s current lineup have great chemistry together & that they share a common affinity to this vein of music. I look forward to their next creation. Drifting Sun are definitely one of prog rock’s brightest lights. Thank you, DS!

For those that remember the Look and Read series in the early eighties (which had such programmes as 'Dark Towers'), in my opinion this music evokes those feelings of mystery and wonder. Very, very impressed. Trebör
